Day 48 Sydney
Well today we left Sydney. We went down to breakfast and
returned to the room to pack. Problem was that our clothes seem to have put on
weight as there was not enough room in our bags for it all. Maureen made a
quick dash to the shops, but as it is Sunday not many shops were open, so off
to Myers and she grabbed a small bag, all that was available and back to the
room. With a bit of grunting and shoving we got it all in and off we went down
stairs. The concierge arranged for the bags and we had an hour and a half
before we had to leave for the airport. Off to Circular Quay we went and back
to our little Italian place for coffee and cake.
Back at the hotel we had service plus. When we arrived with
our little bag and backpacks, no one came to help, now we were leaving we had 3
porters all carrying bags and organising taxis, the lot. I left the gopher in
the lobby after showing them how to drive it and got into the taxi with the
view of the Concierge doing bog laps in the foyer on the gopher.
The taxi dropped us off at the airport and one of the
security people came over and offered to push the wheelchair (Maureen had found
one abandoned near the baggage trolleys) and we said yes. Off into the airport
and over to the Qantas desk and booked in, no problems what so ever. Up to the
departure area, mind you, way own the end but no worries, Maureen pushed me
down and set me up near our gate. Just as the men came to push me to the plane Maureen
disappeared to a call of nature and the guys took off with me. On the plane I got
to the 4th row and picked the window seat and settled in only to
have the boss turn up and demand it was her turn at the window. So a quick
shuffle and she was happy and we were off.

Upon return to Hervey Bay (not pronounced Harvey) we waited
for a taxi. It seems we were the last plane for a couple of hours, so no one
being dropped off. Any way, a short wait allowed Maureen to get a coffee and he
drove up. Back at Girt we settled back in with Maureen doing the washing and me
watching. We have some friends here Jo and Dean who we rang up and arranged to
meet up with tonight. They rolled up about 5:30 and left about 11. We had a
great night chatting and catching up and we intend to do it again tomorrow.
Tomorrow we had intended to drive on, but we have decided to
have a quiet day and then move on the day after.
