Day 50

Day 50 Brisbane

Me on the move
Art
Well as you can see, we overshot Australia Zoo. We got there about 12 ish and debated what to do. We had the van on the back and we would have to unhitch to get the Beast out. We asked the people at the counter if they hire out gopher and they do, just that they were all booked. So decision made, Brisbane was only 70 odd kms away, we would return. So on we went.

Xmas Deco's
We found a little van park that is exactly that – small. The bays are really tiny and we can only just fit in, we did the “I don’t know any better and drove over 2 bays and plonked our van here. We set up Girt and Maureen had found out that there was a train station just down the road, so off we went to see Brisbane.

A warning about me

The trains are funny here as in Sydney, the platforms do not match the train, so they have to bring out ramps. We had a chat to the guard who brought it out and he suggested that instead of Central station, we should get off at Roma St station as it was easier to navigate. So off we went and rattled into town. Once into town the platforms are like waves and the top of the waves match up with the train and you don’t need a ramp, so off we got aand away we went. Happy Graduates
called South Bank and we headed down there. They have done a wonderful job there and it is there cultural centre as well as 2 Universities. It was graduation night and there were gowns everywhere with happy families.

We made our way down to the big ferris wheel and underneath it was a girl hiring Segways and Maureen said she wanted to give it a go. We booked a 1 hour tour and I could tag along on the Beast. I was very impressed with Maureen wanting to give it a go. I must admit, I thought she would not be able to do it, but she had it down pat in no time and we were off. The girl took us down the boardwalk to the Maritime Museum, up and over the pedestrian bridge and into the botanical gardens. to say I was impressed with Maureen is an

Off down the hill
understatement. She has nailed this Segway bisso and is a master, zooming here and there like a pro. The time was late afternoon and the sun was down low, just perfect. We made our way back, definitely got our hours worth. From there we walked back to the train station, on

the way we had to go over a bridge that they have lit up with different colours that reflected off the water to give a beautiful effect.

Local out for a walk
We picked up some tea on the way home and settled down for the night. We certainly missed the great company we have had the last couple of nights and hope Jo and Dean are both well. The plan is to get up and go to Australia Zoo.
