Day 51

Day 51 Brisbane

Eagle

Family portrait
Well we got up today and Maureen was a bit stiff and sore, I am not going to tell you why, but that gives me a “segway” to talk about what I can tell you. Today is Australia Zoo day, we are off out to see what Steve Irwin started. The first thing that hits you is that their salary bill must be huge as they have staff everywhere, they are constantly walking animals around and you can get your picture taken with them for free. They have a wide range of animals to see and we finally got to see a cassowary, maybe not in the wild but in Queensland.

Comodo Dragon
The place is well kept without being pristine and they have wild mobs of brush turkeys who live there in the gardens as well as hundreds of water dragons who are about 50 cms long with huge tails who just about run the place.

Cassowary

Cassowary
Maureen and I were both not feeling 100% so we did not do the place properly, I think we were suffering from the heat. Whatever it was we saw the show and had a sit in the cool and then headed home. Back in the car with the air con going I felt a bit better and when we got home to Girt and had a rest in

 tortoise running around
the cool there we both perked up. Where we are is right next to a shopping centre and Maureen went hunting and gathering for tea and returned with prawns and fresh bread!

Tomorrow we head to Surfers.
