Day 58 Renmark SA

After our big day yesterday at Western Plains Zoo, today we
did relatively very little, mainly drive, mind you, we did a lot of it 688 kms
of. It also means we have now visited all mainland states as we dipped into Victoria
today. At west Wyalong as we drove out, Maureen saw a second entrance and there
right next to it is a DC3 on display. Did not see it yesterday when we drove in
but I am not too worried about my eyes yet as there was a thick stand of trees
behind it. It was built in 1943 in Oklahoma as part of the war effort and when decommissioned
it was donated to the Lions club there.

Our target was to be Mildura, but the roads were very flat
and in excellent condition so we made good time. We were surrounded by cereal
crop fields on all sides and saw our first sheep for weeks. When we got to
Mildura, I was still going fine so we thought we would go another 60 kms but
then Renmark came onto the road signs and we thought blow it, keep going, so we
did and we pulled into the same van park as we did 2 years ago, Renmark
Riverview Holiday Village. It is a lot fuller than last time as school holidays
are on, but still nice. 43 in the water bag today and 42 tomorrow.

We went into town and bought some makings and Maureen cooked
a fabulous dinner. We are now planning tomorrow to blow through Adelaide and
maybe Port Augusta depending on roads. Maureen is off cooking apricots as we
found some cheap ones here and we cannot take them over borders raw.
