Day 54

Day 54 Armadale, we think

Fueling up
Well today started out differently to what we had planned. It rained over night and we had expected it to stop in the morning as it had done the previous day, but it didn’t. we lay in bed listening to the rain and made new plans. We have decided to start our trip home early. Our plan is to packup and hit the road. A quick view of the maps and we have chosen to aim for Tamworth, then Dubbo and then on to Port Augusta. It will mean packing up wet, but that should be fine as we have 10 days to dry out again.

Fueling up
We hit the road and typed in Tamworth as our goal and headed off, problem was we had no idea where we were going, as in the towns and roads and neither did the GPS. It took us the shortest route I think, but the road was narrow and windy and steep up hills, sharp switch backs and no towns for over 100kms. We were starting to wonder if we would ever get anywhere, the first half had been a doddle, now we were seriously off the beaten track. We persevered, mainly because there was no where to turn around, and eventually came to a

town called Armidale, just like near home. We pulled into the first caravan park and the first thing we see are people with dogs. Turns out there is a massive dog show here and over 600 dogs coming and the park is full of them. They did warn us about  the dogs but we said what the heck, we were too tired to go on.

We drove Girt in and unhitched and went into town for diner and we are about to have showers.
