Day 52 Surfers
Yesterday we were not 100% but today we were fine. We had a
lovely day at the zoo yesterday and really did not do it justice, but that is
how the cookie

crumbles. We headed off early and drove the 80 odd kms to
Helensvale and stopped at a Big 4 there. it is a nice setup, but a little too
close to the freeway. Funny enough it is more noticeable during the day rather
than the night. It was something of a new experience for us as we lobbed in at
10:30 am! We had booked ahead and we had a choice of 2 ensuite areas. One was
way down the back but they have 3 steps up to them or the older one near the
road with one small

step, hence our location near the road.
We unhitched with the help from a lovely young guy from the
park and setup camp. We then decided we would go for a drive and look around
and get some lunch.

Off we went and we found a Harbour Town complex with just
the best steak house and we had lunch. We made contact with our niece Belinda and
arranged to meet for tea at her place. The previous day on the way back from the
zoo we had filled up on gas and Maureen went into the fruit shop next to it. Cherries
$8 per kilo, as well as pineapples cored and skinned for under $3 and lots
more, so we stocked up and got some more for Belinda. We rolled up at Belinda,
Dennis, Sophia and Adrian’s for dinner. Maureen was a big hit as she

had the
presents we had bought and was on instant child minding. Dennis is in the Army
and is an intelligence officer and is currently teaching at the local school
there. he has been on deployment to a number of places and has served now for
17 years. It seems like yesterday we went to their wedding.
We had a great night there and after Maureen did her story
time duty we had a long chat to them. When we left to come over to Belinda’s it
was pouring down and it lasted until we left and then it cleared up. Belinda and
Dennis are off camping tomorrow to Byron Bay. Unfortunately we forgot to bring
our camera but we did have a great night.
