Maureens present Shhh
Best laid plans and all that. We got up early today and had
the intention of being on the road by 7:30, well we got up in time and had
everything packed and ready. We were about to go when I noticed our light plug
was not connected, it also was not hanging down, our electric plug was also
undone, but was hanging. It seems that they came unplugged sometime yesterday
afternoon. The light plug had been kicked up into our spare tyre after it had
been dragged for a while. The electrics went back on no worries but the light

stay in. I used a few cable ties to rig it up so it would not
fall out, but only our left indicator worked. Problems, but I was fine to go,
we would just turn left today! The voice of reason over rode this with “I am
not getting in until it is fixed”, tempting as this was I agreed and we
proceeded to drive about town looking for a new plug. The shops kept sending Maureen
out with huge truck or tractor 7 pin plugs until one said that there was an
auto electrician in town. We gave them a ring and they said “sure, no probs”. Out
we drove and young Tyler replaced it all with a new plug and socket, fitted for
$60.

On the road at last
By the time we had done all this we had blown 90 precious
driving minute but at least we had a reliable plug and off we went. We drove to
Ceduna for lunch and decided we would go into town and get some non-servo food.
Good luck if you can find it, we drove up and down the town centre looking and
ended up back at the servo. We filled up and Maureen went in and it had a
Subways, so real food after all. We ended up with a salad and a sandwich and
blew an hour of precious drive time. Our target was Border Town if possible.

Sunset on the road
Well
we left that behind and drove through to Madura as we picked up 2 hours at the
border. We have covered 950kms today and crossed into WA. The border patrol was
there and they went through the car and van with a fine tooth comb. We were
expecting to have to produce passports after all the times Maureen was asked if
she was a citizen or if she had and Australian drivers licence instead of a WA
one. Thought you guys might have Succeeded whilst we were away. So here are in
WA and should be home on Sunday.
